Detoxing Smoothies

I've embarked on the world of "green" smoothies, recently, because my doctor told me I need to include more fiber in my diet as well as eat more healthy fruits and vegetables on a regular basis.  While I like smoothies as a general rule, I've never been a fan of meal replacement.  I've never found smoothies to satisfy me the way "real food" does.  If I drink a smoothie, I still want to eat--so I wasn't really excited about this prospect.

However, I went into it with an open mind.  I invested in a Ninja (I love saying that!).

Who knew a Ninja would be so great in the kitchen...seriously, though, it's the best blender I've ever had.  It has individual serving cups and it's quick an easy to clean up (something I hated previously about using a standard blender, is taking it all apart and cleaning it every time).

I've been drinking smoothies for three weeks now and I'm surprised at how full I feel afterward. I had never made smoothies like this before, incorporating vegetables as well as fruit (and no ice cream or yogurt!).  They taste good (wasn't expecting that either) and my difficulty with finding an acceptable morning meal has been solved (I don't care for most breakfast foods).  PLUS, Cainan has been having one for a snack everyday, as well--he's especially fond of kale and I pack it in there!

My standard smoothie has been a mix of frozen blueberries and cranberries, a big bunch of spinach and/or kale, frozen cherries or strawberries, some flax seed and a little orange juice to smooth it out.  The Ninja pulverizes everything into a sweet, frozen blend and I don't taste the greens or flax.  It's yummy and surprisingly filling.

Recently, I came across a great picture resource for detoxing the major organs in your body.  I was pleased to see that my regular smoothie covers a lot of it but I'm glad for the information.  I can tweak them a bit if I want to work on a whole body detox (of course, the rest of my diet would need a big change, too).  Here it is for your perusal:

It turns out that vinegar is a great remedy for many foot ailments, from tired feet to common toenail fungus to dry cracked skin.  I found a great blog that gives simple recipes and instructions for several types of vinegar soaks for the care of your feet.

The "Rice Bag" Method

I just tried out the new “rice bag” method for applying my Jamberry Nails and I LOVE IT!!  Okay, they were pretty easy to apply with the hairdryer but I’m always one for finding the most convenient way.  I love that I can sit in my bed at night, while my husband watches TV, and I can do a full manicure without the smell bugging him, then go right to bed.  Sound good?  Well, with no dry time using Jamberry Nail Shields and by applying them with a warm rice bag, that is exactly how quick and easy it is.

If you’re familiar with applying Jamberry Nails, then you prep your nail as usual—clean, push cuticles, file, buff and clean again with alcohol or nail polish remover to get all the oils off.  Pick your favorite shields, cut the size you need and apply it to your nail.  Now, take a rice bag—like the kind you use for warmth in the winter (I’ll tell you more about how to get them in a bit) heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute (depending on the size of bag you have), use the warm bag to apply pressure and smooth your nail shield on.  I think you get better adhesion with this method than with the hairdryer and I think it’s even easier than the dryer! Depending on how quick you work, you might have to heat it a couple of times.

I am going to be making a bunch of these little babies and using them at my parties to demo, as well as hostess gifts.  One of my downlines has even started selling her little hand warmer creations, which double as Jamberry Nail Shields applicators.  I love it!  Based on her recommendation, I actually used flax seed instead of rice because they are flatter than rice grains and I liked the way the bag lays when stuffed with them.  You can use either (instant rice is NOT recommended).  To try it out, I just put some in an old baby sock, tied a knot in it and heated it up.  Worked like a dream.  Now I’m going to make more (that aren’t baby socks).

And I love this pattern better than any I’ve tried so far!  Exotic Paisley is just lovely!  So feminine and summery—goes with about anything I would wear this time of year.  Remember, you can order directly from my website at www.molzer.jamberrynails.net.   Order three and get one FREE—what a deal!

Manicures for a Cause

One the things I love about Jamberry Nails is their commitment to charity.  Currently, Jamberry Nails offers four lovely designs that help bring awareness to specific issues, as well as donates money to their causes.  The first is Autism Awareness.

My Jamberry Nails have always been attention
getters and great conversation starters.  With this nail shield, it's a great way to bring awareness to Autism, start conversations about why Autism awareness is important to you, and a way to raise money for the Autism Society.  Jamberry Nails will donate $2.00 for each sheet of the Autism Awareness shields to the Autism Society.  Make a statement with your manicure, help raise money for an important cause and start a conversation about Autism.

I've seen these shields look fabulous applied to just a thumb or index finger with a lovely solid blue (blue for Autism awareness) or red on the other fingers.  I love how colorful these shields are and how they help bring awareness to an important cause.

The second charity is the American Cancer Society and this feminine pattern raises Breast Cancer awareness.  Again, Jamberry Nails will donate $2.00 from the sale of each sheet.  These are lovely and another great conversation starter when people catch sight of your manicure.

The third charity is one I had never heard of.  I was so excited to learn more about their program.  The Pay it Forward (PIF) movement is a charity that promotes compassion and care on a personal, one-to-one level and encourages each person touched by an act of kindness, to carry on a kindness to someone else. It's an amazing charity and you can learn more about it by visiting their website at www.PIFexperience.org

Again, $2.00 from each sheet purchased will go toward this charity and you will also receive PIF wristband with your purchase.  I think the black and white pattern is classy but I really love the color.  This is a great way, especially paired with the wristband, to bring awareness to and help support an AMAZING charity.

Tip of the Day: Olive Oil

One of the best cures for dry skin is extra virgin olive oil.  EVOO contains antioxidant vitamin E and vitamin A.

Put a few teaspoons in your next bath or buy soap that already has some in it.  For a really dry patch, rub the EVOO directly on the area.  It's great for hair, scalp and cuticles, too!

Jamberry Nail Shields

I'm so excited to be selling Jamberry Nail Shields now!  I cannot keep polish on my fingernails for anything!  I haven't done my nails in years because there was no point.  Acrylics and gels are expensive, not to mention toxic and horrid on your nails.  I'd pretty much resigned myself to the "au natural" look.  Then someone invited me to a Jamberry Nails party...

I got to try on a few samples and I ordered a couple sheets, hoping they would be worthwhile.  When by samples were still on three days later I called the consultant and begged to buy a sheet out of her inventory so I could do a full set before my vacation.  I applied them the night before we left for Disneyland and still had all of them on, in fantastic shape, when I came home 10 days later!  By then my order was here and I put on my next set.  I then proceeded to put my garden in two days later--digging through the dirt, using tools, planting vegetables...When I still had beautiful nails at the end of that process, I was sold!!  I signed up to be a consultant and get the word out on these amazing nail shields, myself.

What are they exactly?  The shields are a solid film covering that can be applied directly to the nail to achieve a look not found anywhere else. This special material is both pressure and heat activated to create a water tight bond to your nail. The shields are made in the USA, with no harsh chemicals and are latex free.

This new nail treatment can be applied in just fifteen to thirty minutes at home. With over one hundred fifty styles available, these designer nail shields are made to last up to two weeks on fingers and six weeks on toes. Unlike traditional nail polish, they won’t chip and require no drying time. It’s so easy to achieve a professional, salon look at a fraction of the cost.

Interested in trying them out?  If you're local, book a party--it's the best way to check them out and have a great girl's night with your friends.  PLUS, as a hostess, you'll earn credit toward your own sheets.  If you're already sold by what you've seen and read, then you can buy directly from my website: www.molzer.jamberrynails.net
